Entry Fields
- Nick
- Nickname other users know you as.
- E-mail
- (optional) Identifying information, such as your e-mail
address.
- Room
- Name of the room you want to enter.

Sounds - Hear sound requests that other users make.
- Sound
on Join - Play a sound when a user joins the room.
- Use
Colors - Use colors to differentiate types of messages.
- Show
Joins - Receive notification when a user joins or leaves
the room.
Client
Buttons
Chat
Displays the chat dialog currently in progress.
- The
list on the left (if any) shows the rooms on the server. If
the server has a large number of rooms you will need to enter
/list to update this list. The room you are currently in is
displayed as bold. You can switch rooms by double-clicking
on one.
- The
center area shows the messages you have sent and received. The
current topic for this room, if any, is shown in the title bar.
- The
right list displays people currently in this chat room. Your
nick is displayed as bold. If you select one or more
names from the list then your messages (and sounds) will only
go to those people. There are two special characters that precede
some names:
- @
indicates an operator that issue commands to control the
room.
- +
indicates a user with "voice", only users with
voice can speak in a moderated room.
- At
the bottom is the input line. You can send a message by typing
it on this line. A few basic commands you can enter are:

| The
sound will only be heard by others using the java client.
Some common sounds are: bell, laugh, gong, moo, crash,
flush, knock and whistle. |
Rooms
Displays all the rooms that are currently available. The current
topic for the room (ifany), and the number of users in the room,
are also shown. To join one of these rooms (andleave the one you
are in), just double-click on it. If the room list is not displayed
itis because there are a large number of rooms on the server.
To display the list enter /list. You can also filter the room
list using /list filter. For example: /list*teen* will
show only rooms with teen in the name.
Session
Displays your current session settings. Allows you to change most
of your settings evenafter your session has begun. Note that you
cannot change your e-mail information once you've signed on.
Float
Removes the Java applet from the html page, and places it in a
separate window. This is useful if you want to use your browser
to view other pages while you chat. When the JavaClient is "floating",
the button toggles its meaning and contains the word "Embed".
If it is pressed while in this state, it causes the Java applet
to be placed back into the page from which it came, or closed
if you are not displaying that page.
